MEET YOUR PEOPLE: Mike ValloneApril 11, 2012
NAME: Michael Joseph Michael Vallone the 1st
TITLE: Pixel Jockey (aka Graphic Designer)
I COULDN’T DO WITHOUT MY… V-neck sweaters
FAVORITE H&P MEMORY: Within my first month of working here, I was given club seats to a Sox game and taken on a sailing trip which was my first time on the ocean. As hard to top as that was, there are many similarly exciting memories with H&P.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP? A Buffalo Sabre. Sorry Bahsten, but I bleed Blue & Gold.
FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING PART OF THE H&P TEAM: I love that H&P allows us to make our jobs our own. H&P gives us all the tools and support to use our specific talents and interests to really add value at every turn.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE? Well, because I’m already all-knowing… I’d say I’m going with the Jedi Mind Trick. Then I could easily convince people that I actually do know everything.
FAVORITE/ MOST MEMORABLE PROJECT WORKED ON: Working on the graphics General Cigar’s booth for IPCPR 2011 was a massive undertaking, with a short turnaround. Although it meant me living in the office for a few weeks, the feeling of accomplishment I got when I found out how happy the client was with everything made it all worthwhile. That and a box of cigars…
WHEN I’M NOT AT WORK, YOU CAN FIND ME: Feverishly pursuing the world’s greatest burger. The current frontrunner can be found at Neptune, in the North End. Go try it. Seriously.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU? Looking at anything and everything around me. I often get lost in the designs (good and bad) that fill our daily lives. Recently I’ve been really enamored with vintage industrial signage and packaging, and the modern revival of that style.
FAVORITE PART OF THE DESIGN PROCESS: That “Aha” moment in the initial stages when you stumble upon an idea that really clicks.
